Hpdgmsn, but after the partnership was dissolved three or four years later he continued alone, until joining Athol Johnston , when the name of the firm became Elliston & Johnston. From 1924 until his retirement in 1932 he carried on his business by himself.
Vivian was keen on sport. He was an active member of the Lindisfarne Golf Club Lindisfarne Cricket Club. Formany years he served on the Clarence Counceil, and was chairman of the Lindisfaren ward. He transferred to the first Goucester Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1903, but four years later retired to the Somerset LI. "He returned to Europe with a company of Baluchistanis in 1915.. His men were shipped from France to East Africa where Guy followed after catching measles in the trenches. He was wounded in East Africa and shipped back to India where he was Commandant of the Convalescent Hospital at Ahmednaggar and then went on the Reserve of officers, whilst moving freely around North India ostensibly finding teak for railway sleepers for the army. He spoke fluent Punjabi, Hindustani, Pushtu, and, of course, Urdu.He was an excellent muscian so languages were no problem, but he was deafened in about 1917 whilst serving in the Kyber Pass by a stray bullet that killed his subaltan.
